A very far distance love it is. Sarah the bride, living at Australia while Janus the groom over Denmark - both countries were 10,000 miles apart, nearly 20+ hours of flight. How they met, fall in love, and getting married would seem to be something literally... not possible. I recall an interesting part of the wedding speech from Janus, let me paraphrase "few years ago, if I were to say that I will leave Denmark, marry a girl staying at Australia and having my wedding ceremony and reception at Penang, Malaysia. I must be crazy". And here you go, I'm a witness to this rare and unique occasion happening at the Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort, Penang. It's not hard to figure out how Janus fell in love with Sarah, she is charming and the smile is simply infectious.
The sisters need to be a little more relaxed!
I used to be an assistant student conductor back in school band days. Would never ever thought that the music senses in me could be useful as a wedding photographer - I was helping Sarah and her sisters with the tempo of their march-in according to the song during the rehearsal a day before.
This could be one of the most challenging wedding throughout my career till 2012 as typically I have 4 hours to work on my slideshow but due to the timing, I needed 1.5 hours to do a mini portrait session with Sarah & Janus while only left with another 1.5 to transfer my files and work on my express slideshow for the dinner reception!
Coming to the location below reminded me of a movie scene. I asked Sarah if she watched "The Sound of Music" before, relating to the 'soldier'/postman(I was too young to understand that time) and the lady scene where they hold their hands like this walking, jumping around and singing "I am 16 going on 17... la~la~la~" Ok, you'll know it if you know it. It's fun when I can relate to childhood stuff with couple and to help them relax and pose at the same time.
If you are wondering what was happening, it's actually part of Danish wedding custom and there's a socks cutting ceremony too. More photos here.
Dancing shots are my favorite. People just being themselves having a good time and my job is to freeze as much of each people that's having fun at the dance floor.
&.b.t.w. - There is an angle of Sarah which I think looks like Celine Dion a lot.
&.&.b.t.w. - Typically, a lot of brides or ladies would tell Joan to go very light on the makeover but for Sarah and both her sisters' makeover surprisingly, it's one of the most satisfying experience for Joan cause the girls asked for even more!
