I couldn't think of better title for this post than the one written. Mainly because this is a truly Malaysians' wedding that involves all three major races. What gave me the deepest impression from this wedding is Lydia parent's love story. Her late-father is a Chinese whereas the mother is a Malay Muslim. Going back to maybe 30 years ago, imagine how people would react for a mixed culture/religion match? From the speeches at the reception, I can feel that it wasn't easy for anyone as they faced strong objections from both side families.
This kind of true love is one of the greatest, I think. Regardless of the tough obstacles, you make it through, together.
At the past, I used to think Muslims and Indians are very serious people because of the attire worn in the wedding - the traditional ones. Boy I'm so wrong and everyone is just the same, we love to laugh, we love to have fun and it has nothing to do with race nor religion.
Very glad that my work often gets me into people's home, seeing and experiencing different places and culture. It's a special privilege, being able to photograph Lydia & Kevin's wedding too. Love the friendly and fun crowd in the wedding, the food, the atmosphere, everything!
&.b.t.w. - Embarked on my soul searching trip last week, in a rural area without phone signal or internet. I realized that people often go after wrong priorities in life, which resulted in lack of fulfilment in what we do and happiness were lost in the process. Very random I know, just saying.
&.&.b.t.w. - Finally seen a leech in action. And yea, 8 of them, 'having meal' on my legs and hands. A little scary at first, but easily repelled by insect repellent.
&.&.&.b.t.w. - I bought some new equipment that I think will help in getting rid of my past limitation in lighting. Often, people asked "what is your style?" It's a tricky question, really. I think the style is up to the viewer to feel and describe. On our end as photographer, we kept perfecting our craft through life experiences and ongoing learning which never stops.
&.&.&.&.b.t.w. - Kevin is a sweetheart. He works in Penang while Lydia in KL. He travels to KL every weekend to her!
